The Indian Pundix Introduces A POS Terminal In Nigeria

News reaching us today reveals that Indonesian payment company Pundix has introduced what we call the first crypto based Point of Sale (POS) system in Nigeria.

An importer and exporter of Agricultural products based in Nigeria finally receives the crypto-based POS machine of which the owners claim ‘is a first for Africa.’

This is the first in a global roll out of similar systems, aimed at revolutionizing how people pay for common items and as well scale up cryptocurrency adoption and development in Africa’s biggest bitcoin market.

The system works very much like traditional POS systems, only in addition to fiat currency (Naira, in Nigeria’s case), crypto such as Bitcoin and Ether are accepted. The system only takes seconds to confirm a transaction and it issues a receipt showing the relevant data.

Pundix is currently rolling the devices out worldwide in locations including the UK, Korea, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and many more prominent locations.

This is an exciting development for both Africa and the world. Hopefully as these POS systems roll out worldwide it will lead us one step closer to mainstream adoption.
