An Advisory Group Formed By Gibraltar’s Government Focuses On Creating New Education-Related Blockchain Technology Courses In The World

The government of Gibraltar’s new advisory group will now focus on creating new education-related blockchain technology courses in the world. The advisory group has been named New Technologies in Education (NTiE) and aims to fulfill the ever-increasing demand for the blockchain skills as the technology industry continues to grow in Gibraltar.

The courses developed by the advisory group will equip the individuals with the knowledge and potential applications of blockchain technology.

NTiE is a joint venture between the University of Gibraltar and the government with some other technology companies from Gibraltar also contributing to its formation.

The Director of Professional Development & Short Courses at the University of Gibraltar Nadine Collado will chair the company. Other members of the advisory group include Joey Britto, the former Director of Education, Professor Catherine Bachleda, Vice Chancellor (Ag), University of Gibraltar, Dr. Darren Fa, Director of Academic Programs and Research, Christian Celecia, Director of Information Communications and Technology, and many more academicians.

While discussing the new blockchain technology inclusion in the education world, Gilbert Licudi QC MP, who is the Minister with the responsibility of University of Gibraltar said, “Today’s announcement is a strong indication that we are on the right path towards delivering our objective of addressing the skills requirements that will be needed to fully realize the potential of new technologies.” He further added that when the students get access to innovative courses along with input from the experts and also from those who use this technology in their industries, it helps to develop a sustainable DLT commercial community.

As per the source, the courses will commence in the latter part of 2018 and may include educational courses on Distributed ledger technology (DLT), the blockchain, smart contracts, and coding. The courses will gain from significant input from the Gibraltar-based companies who are trying to become regulator license holders of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC).
